First Electronics
This is one of my first electronic projects, created the same year as the Marble Catcher. While that project was purely mechanical, DjBot marked my entry into the world of electronics.
The Build
I gathered components from various sources:
-
Speakers from McDonald's toys for the hands
-
A bike light for the eyes and mouth
-
Wood sticks for the body structure
I wired everything together, learning basic circuit principles along the way.
The Result
The result was an awesome robot that could:
-
Play music through its hand-speakers
-
Light up a room with its glowing eyes
It wasn't sophisticated, but it sparked a fascination with electronics that would grow over the years.
The Lesson
At this age, I discovered that broken toys weren't trash - they were components. Every discarded electronic device became a potential source of parts for the next project.
